Memorial Day

The Historic Linwood Foundation office will close at noon on Thursday, May 24. The office will be closed Monday, May 28 for the observance of Memorial Day. The cemetery gates will be open at 7:00 am and will close at 7:00 pm.

In case you didn’t know, the first observance of Memorial Day was here in Linwood Cemetery in 1866, after the War Between the States.

Memorial Day is a day to remember the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Country, NOT a time for shopping at the mall. We ask that you take the time to visit a cemetery and pay your respects to our fallen service members by placing an American flag on his or her grave. If it weren’t for their sacrifice, we wouldn’t have the freedoms we hold so dear today!
