Lummus Chapel
The Historic Linwood Foundation Inc. (HLF) has established the Linwood Chapel Fund to restore the chapel offered to the foundation by F. Edward Lummus II of Atlanta. In 2005 HLF President John S. Holt and the board voted to undertake the project. Completed in 2007, with a dedication in March 2008, the Lummus Chapel at Linwood Cemetery is a great addition and venue for the city of Columbus. Restoration of the Gate House
Restoration of the Gate House, a major project of HLF, was done in 2001. The HLF office, in partnership with the City of Columbus, is now located there, giving the organization a greater presence in the cemetery. It has attracted a steady stream of visitors locating their ancestors.
Restoring Sites
Repairing and restoring grave sites have been ongoing since 1997. Brick masons and monument experts have been employed to make repairs.

Evaluation and Repairing Sites
Professional artisans Lynette Strangstad and David Via of Stone Faces and Sacred Spaces spent February 2002 evaluating and repairing grave stones. The team restored and replaced this fence on the Cosby lot (featured right).
The Education Plan
The education plan calls for developing regular tours with trained tour guides; establishing a formal education program for area students, combining general necrogeography topics and Linwood grave-specific information; and evaluating historical and cultural resources that would provide a social history of Columbus.
